Today is The International Day of Peace (And My Birthday)

Today is the International Day of Peace (and also my birthday).

I was quite surprised when I first discovered this day was established one year after I was born because I know I was always meant to be a peacekeeper and an advocate for social justice. Learning of this a few years ago just felt so right…and makes me appreciate this day even more.

As a child I never saw a difference in people based on color, demographics, or status. I simply saw their soul. I saw the essence of the person that made them a unique individual with similarities we all share ~ like a deep seated desire to find love and happiness. And as I grew, I struggled to accept the “rules” society tried to dictate based on our differences.

While my own life has had it’s fare share of complications and tragedies…I still feel blessed that the place I call home allows me the freedom to pursue whichever passions I choose. Because of this, it has become my purpose to dedicate each year left of my “one wild and precious life” to writing inspirational stories and articles, sharing resources that promote good health and happiness, and offering ways in which we can create more compassionate homes and communities on a local and global scale.

Quite simply, it’s my dream that the place we call HOME can become the ONE PLACE above all others where we can find unconditional love, nurturing support, and the freedom to blossom into our full potential as incredibly beautiful human beings who embrace our unique identities.

If you’d like to help me celebrate my birthday and this International Day of Peace ~ please, give the gift of kindness.

Find a way to help someone in need, show you care, share a smile, lend a hand, or tell an uplifting story.

Let’s put our differences aside, along with our fears and worries.

Let’s connect, practice compassion for our fellow mortals and encourage long lasting peace and harmony.

With love, gratitude, and light,

~ Darcey
