Hello Beautiful: An Inner Beauty Treatment for Greater Health & Happiness

If you’ve been doing any kind of wellness work recently, you’re already aware that what we think dramatically impacts our health and wellbeing. ( If you haven’t heard about this, then I recommend you begin researching The Power of Positive Thinking.)

With this in mind, I’m going to share a self-care routine that is guaranteed to increase your inherent self-worth and provide a daily dose of happiness…

First, take a moment to think about how you normally wake up:

  1. Do you jump awake and immediately start rushing to get ready for the day with little thought?
  2. Or do you wake slow and gradual—taking note of how your body feels, the temperature of the room, the sights and sounds you begin to hear?

When waking quickly, the body’s first experience of the day is a shot of cortisol—a stress-inducing hormone that has harmful effects on the nervous and cardiovascular system.

For the sake of your health, the latter is always the better option as it provides a gradual awakening that regulates your heartbeat and acclimates you to your surroundings.

Second, take a moment to pause in front of a mirror before you begin your day and complete this compassionate self-care routine:

Breathing deeply, with your feet planted firmly on the floor, gaze deeply into your eyes and greet your beautiful self:

Say out loud: “Hello Beautiful!” 

Take a few minutes to quietly thank your body for the work it has done throughout the night to rest and rejuvenate your being.

Thank your body for the work it’s about to do this day.

Acknowledge the beauty and mystery that is the human body, regardless of its current form or ailment.

And FEEL that appreciation and gratitude down to your very core!

This ritual can be done in front of the mirror in your bedroom or in the privacy of the bathroom—it really doesn’t matter. Whichever you choose, just take a moment to ground yourself in this present moment by looking into your eyes and acknowledging your body, your being, and your presence with gratitude.

So many of us seem to find fault with our bodies.

We often tend to forget the miracle that they really are. Remember, each of us contains the power to create, to nurture others outside ourselves, to manifest amazing things, and to HEAL.

How incredible is that?

We don’t give ourselves enough credit for the work our bodies do.

This is your moment to change that.

By waking more consciously and beginning each day with gratitude for your body, you’ll gradually shift the way you perceive yourself, thus allowing the opportunity to truly embrace your own inherent value and self worth.

Self-worth is everything. If we value ourselves, so will others.

If you learn to love and accept yourself the way you are, right now, each day can become a new day filled with infinite possibilities that will bring you one step closer to greater health and happiness.
